#1 Oregano Oil

In research published in 2004 at Johns Hopkins University, rats were injected with either a solution containing tart cherries or a prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and exposed to either a heated surface or an inflammatory agent. The tart cherries significantly reduced pain sensitivity and at the highest dosage were as effective as the drug. The authors conclude that tart cherries may have a beneficial role in inflammatory pain. In a 2001 study at Michigan State University, the anthocyanins in cherries were found to be equivalent to two common over-the-counter painkillers(also NSAIDs) for inhibiting the COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes associated with inflammation.
Sore Muscles in Athletes
Oregon`s Hood to Coast relay is a 197 mile race involving 1,000 relay teams. In 2009, scientists from Oregon`s Health and Science University studied the impact of tart cherry juice on pain in athletes participating in the race. Participants drank 10.5 ounces of tart cherry juice twice daily for a week prior to the race and then every 8 hours during the race. At the end of the race the cherry drinkers had less pain and faster muscle recovery. NSAIDs, though helpful for some kinds of pain, are associated with side effects including hospitalization and death. Tart cherry juice, on the other hand, has few if any side effects and may be a healthier choice for athletes and others who suffer from pain.
Gout is a painful type of arthritis caused by build up of uric acid in joints, often favoring the toes. In a 2003 study designed to test the value of cherries for ameliorating gout pain 10 healthy female volunteers ate 45 Bing cherries for breakfast. Researchers at the USDA`s Agricultural Research Service then evaluated levels of urate, a precursor of uric acid, in blood plasma levels and in urine. Within 5 hours of eating cherries, urate decreased in blood plasma levels and increased in urine. Scientists also evaluated levels of C-reactive protein and nitric oxide, two other markers of inflammation, which decreased after subjects ate cherries.
In a recent study at the Oregon Health and Science Center, women with fibromyalgia were evaluated for muscle pain and weakness after exercise. Of the 14 women, half drank cherry juice and half a placebo for ten days. Results showed a subset of the cherry group enjoyed a significant reduction in overall pain.
The research suggests that cherries can be effective for different kinds of pain conditions. While both tart and sweet cherries have anthocyanins, tart cherries have more of them as well as a lower glycemic index making them a better choice. Tart cherries are also one of the only known food sources of melatonin, helpful for those whose pain interrupts their sleep cycle.

One study published in the journal Diabetes Care explains that a simple 25 nanomole per liter (nmol/L), or 10 nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL), increase in blood levels of vitamin D results in a roughly 24 percent reduction in diabetes risk, while another study similarly reveals a correlation between high blood levels of vitamin D and reduced risk of diabetes.
Dr. Ken Sikaris and his colleague Zhong Lu, both of which are pathologists at Melbourne Pathology in Australia, tested the blood levels of 5,200 participants as part of their research. After accounting for more than ten outside risk factors that may affect outcomes, the duo found that participants with the highest blood levels of vitamin D had a significantly reduced risk of developing type-2 diabetes compared to those with the lowest levels.
"It's hard to underestimate how important this could be," said Dr. Sikaris concerning the findings, inferring that vitamin D is an essential weapon in the fight against diabetes.
In a related study, physician Anastassios Pittas from Tufts University evaluated 2,039 people with high blood sugar levels as part of her three year study, and found that every 12.5 nmol/L (5 ng/mL) increase in vitamin D levels resulted in an eight percent decreased risk of developing diabetes.
Participants with the highest third of vitamin D levels, above 75 nmol/L (30 ng/mL), were also 38 percent less likely to develop diabetes than those in the lowest third, which averaged 32 nmol/L (13 ng/mL).
"There are indications that vitamin D is of importance in glucose metabolism, and that supplementation with vitamin D may increase both insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity," writes a report at ClinicalTrials.gov in response to this and other vitamin D research.

This aluminum toxicity can lead to very serious mental handicaps by 18 months of age.
Aluminum is found in the DTP, Haemophilus Influenzae, Pneumococcal, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Human Papillomavirus, Anthrax, & Rabies vaccines. A 2004 article published by the FDA states, `Research indicates that patients with impaired kidney function including premature neonates who receive aluminum at greater rates than 4-5 mcg per kilogram of body weight per day accumulate aluminum at levels associated with central nervous system and bone toxicity.`
Based on these FDA toxicity thresholds a 6lb baby could not handle more than 11-14 mcg of aluminum. The Hepatitis B vaccine, which is given at birth, contains 250 mcg, which is 20x the toxicity threshold. Average babies weigh close to 12 lbs at 2 months of age when they are injected with 1,225 mcg of aluminum in their vaccines - which is 50 times the toxicity threshold.

What causes vitamin B12 deficiency?
B12 deficiency is often linked to vegetarian and vegan diets because foods that contain B12 (such as milk, eggs and liver) are not part of the meal plan. However, this is only one possible cause of a B12 deficiency. You may also be deficient in B12 if stomach acid levels are low, if your gut flora is imbalanced and if your intestinal lining is not functioning properly. The Importance of B12

Based on the findings of several studies, most doctors now recommend one of the aromatase inhibitor (AIs) after women with estrogen-positive breast cancer have initial treatment with surgery and often chemotherapy and radiation therapy. An AI medication has been considered a better choice than the other anti-estrogen treatment, tamoxifen, because AIs have been thought to have more benefits and fewer serious side effects.
However, research just published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute concludes that the toxic impact of aromatase inhibitors apparently explains why breast cancer patients taking AIs don't live any longer than women taking tamoxifen. Bottom line: the study suggests that even if AIs slow down or halt the growth of estrogen driven breast cancer, women may lose their lives not to a malignancy -- but to the negative impact the drugs have on their bodies.
AIs block the enzyme aromatase, which turns the hormone androgen into small amounts of estrogen in the body. So they reduce the amount of estrogen available that can stimulate the growth of estrogen-driven breast cancer cells. This class of drugs doesn't halt ovaries from making estrogen, so AIs are only used in post-menopausal women. The medications are normally prescribed as an alternative to tamoxifen or after earlier treatment with tamoxifen (which often has intolerable side effects).
Overall, AI therapy alone is associated with a reduction in breast cancer recurrence -- but doesn't result in women living any longer. What's more, the drugs have been found to produce a host of concerning adverse toxic effects on the body. And it's this toxicity that may explain the lack of overall survival benefit in postmenopausal breast cancer patients, according to researchers Eitan Amir, of the Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, and colleagues.
The research team conducted a systematic review of all randomized trials which compared AIs and tamoxifen in postmenopausal women. Using results from seven trials involving 30,023 breast cancer patients, the scientists performed a meta-analysis of the data. The results showed that, compared to tamoxifen, longer use of AIs was associated with more heart disease and bone fractures. However, tamoxifen users had higher rates of blood clots and cancer of the womb. There were no differences in the risk of stroke or other types of cancer. Overall there was no survival benefit to AIs, even though the drugs seem to have a positive effect on breast cancer recurrence.
The researchers concluded that the toxicity of AIs was most likely behind the drugs failure to prolong life. Using tamoxifen first and then switching to AIs for 2 to 3 years was associated with a lower risk of death unrelated to breast cancer compared to the use of either AIs or tamoxifen alone. The scientists speculate that this is because switching between the two drugs lowers the toxicity of AIs in the body.
In an accompanying editorial, Nancy E. Davidson, M.D., Shannon Puhalla, M.D., and Rachel C. Jankowitz, M.D., of the UPMC Cancer Center at Magee-Womens Hospital, concluded that doctors should "..choose initial endocrine therapy for the individual patient with careful attention to the risk of breast cancer recurrence, the risk of toxicity, and comorbidities."

The primary ingredient used in most antiperspirants is aluminum. Aluminum is a metal, which is used in antiperspirants to help block the sweat from escaping the pores. Aluminum has been linked to breast cancer in women and has also been linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease.
Several studies have shown a link between increasing antiperspirant use and rising rates of female breast cancer and prostate cancer in men. However, the FDA has not committed to classifying it as a carcinogen. Their position remains one of "wait and see" as more definitive studies are released.
Parabens are a family of synthetic preservatives that are often found in deodorants as well. In fact, parabens are contained in an alarming amount of our body care products. A random sampling of 100 human urine specimens performed by the CDC showed that all 100 contained parabens. This demonstrates the high absorption rate of chemicals we place on our skin.
The largest concern is that the absorption of these chemicals will disrupt our delicate hormonal balance. This can lead to things like early puberty in children and an increased risk of hormonal cancers. Paraben exposure has also been linked to birth defects and organ toxicity.
Propylene glycol is another common ingredient that is used in antiperspirants and deodorants. This is a petroleum based material that is used to soften cosmetic products due to its slick consistency. It is a cheap way to make skin care products more easily applicable to the skin.

In an analysis of reports on 70 outbreaks attributed to raw milk, many examples were found of reporting bias, errors and poor analysis resulting in most outbreaks having either no valid positive milk sample or no valid statistical association. All kinds of things are far more dangerous than raw milk
Regardless of the endless proof that drinking raw milk from pure sources is extremely safe, the government continues to push its agenda and raw milk bias by portraying raw milk as an incredibly hazardous substance.

This is another clear example of how present-day events and conditions have increasingly been leading America toward becoming a state in which government leaders control our lives rather than allowing us to decide things for ourselves.
You may not care for drinking raw milk, but this issue is evidence to all of our government's agenda to cultivate a culture of lies. Although they are aware that raw milk (when acquired from clean, grass-fed cows) is endlessly more nutritious than pasteurized milk, they continue to present dishonest information about it and to conceal the hard facts about much more clear and present dangers throughout the rest of the food supply, including the more popular pasteurized milk.
The FDA and CDC are purposely doing their part in the enactment of a society that is riddled with increasing cases of sickness and death. This barbaric deception does not only apply to raw milk, but to any number of healthful, raw whole foods and nutritional supplements, and it is this sort of behavior that is contributing to our country's declining health and freedom.

How Molds Form
Molds you see on hard surfaces, such as shower tiling, are not very toxic. The main toxic fungus creation is moisture collected on or especially inside wet porous surfaces containing enough cellulose or organic material to feed the fungus. Examples are soft wood, drywall and other porous materials such as carpeting and ceiling tiles. Molds can be sneaky, hiding out of view beneath outer layers of once wet porous materials.
Toxic Black Mold or Stachybotrys (stack-ee-BOT-ris) is very hazardous to health, especially when it dries and releases spores into the air. It is more common in areas with over 55% relative humidity. Another really dangerous mold is Chaetomium (kay-toe MEE-yum).
It doesn't take major external or internal flooding for a toxic mold to take hold. Minor basement seepage and under sink leakage accumulation are culprits as well.
Many state health agencies are aware of toxic mold's danger. They often have regulations requiring landlords and selling homeowners to remove everything that contains mold. The tenants or buyers are usually legally in the right to break any contractual living arrangement if action is not taken. What's commonly required is a licensed mold remover certifying the mold's existence.
Removing mold is costly because sections of housing need to be removed and replaced. Intense cleaning with lots of ventilation is done between removing and re-installing dwelling sections. Rooms that require heavy cleaning with bleach and noisy ventilators have to be vacated for a few days.
Health Risks and Hazards
A health risk creates minor consequences, such as minor allergic reactions. A health hazard creates long term debilitating disease or death. Chaetomium and most of the fifteen strains of Stachybotrys Black Mold represent health hazards.
Spores can infest nasal passages or be ingested with infected treats lying around. Once they enter the body, it's possible for them to colonize and create a widespread fungal infection. These fungal infections are difficult to remove.
Besides spores becoming airborne and breathed in daily, mycotoxins are also released into the indoor air. Mycotoxins are secondary toxic metabolites produced by fungal mold organisms. They are similar to bacteria metabolic (feeding) byproducts, which are more toxic than the bacteria itself.
Some molds may produce several different mycotoxins. So one mold can create a myriad of unhealthy symptoms. Lung and gastrointestinal tract irritations are very common. Low energy, chronic fatigue, and neurological damage may also occur with residents of mold infested dwellings.
Mycotoxins can cause extreme dizziness, inability to focus, and slurred speech. Because the immune system is affected by spores creating fungal infections or mycotoxins, autoimmune diseases can manifest while coping with a mold infested dwelling or "sick building".

One of the most popular genetic crop modifications makes plants immune to herbicides. In particular, the company called Monsanto has made a whole line of `RoundUp Ready` crops that are resistant to the RoundUp herbicide. However, the natural world is far superior than man`s attempt to manipulate and control nature.
Fields that have been sprayed with RoundUp for multiple years are now seeing super weeds that are impervious to RoundUP and grow up to six to seven feet tall. Andrew Kimbrell has been the Executive Director of the Center for Food Safety since 1997. He says that we now have 10-20 million acres of these super weeds that you cannot kill.
The RoundUp herbicide is also a powerful toxin for human consumption. GM products are highly sprayed with such herbicides and many strong pesticides. These toxins cause serious damage within the human body.
Unlike many other countries, GMO containing foods are still unlabeled here in America. However, according to a recent survey, if they were labeled, 53% of participants said they would not eat them. Currently 60-70% of our food in the US is genetically modified. Children`s foods are the number one GMO containing products.
Many processed foods contain 90-100% GM ingredients. Most all non-organic breads and other baked goods contain GM ingredients. Most non-organic chocolate, sweets, candy, gum, etc. contain GM ingredients. Most non-organically raised animal (meat, dairy, eggs) products contain GM ingredients. These animals are typically fed a diet that is 90+ percent GMO. Most non-organic beverages (beer, wine, soft drinks, juices) contain GM ingredients.
In May of 2009, The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) sent out a press release that called for an immediate moratorium on GM foods. They asked physicians to educate their patients and provide educational material about the health risks associated with GM foods. They proposed that physicians consider the role of GM foods in their patients` disease processes.
In their position paper, the AAEM sites several animal studies that indicate extreme health risks associated with GM foods. Some of the health risks include infertility, immune dysfunction, allergic reactions, accelerated aging, insulin dysregulation, organ malfunction and digestive dysfunction.
The AAEM quoted in their paper: `There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation, as defined by recognized scientific criteria. The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies.`
How To Avoid Purchasing GMO Foods:
1.Buy organic as much as possible
2.Buy foods labeled `Non-GMO`
3.Avoid non-organic products containing corn, soy, canola, cottonseed, peanut, alfalfa, safflower, tomatoes, zucchini, crookneck squash, sugar cane, beats, peppers & papayas.
4.Avoid GMO offspring products such as high fructose corn syrup, maltodextrin, soy lecithin, soy protein, etc.
5.Avoid non-organic dairy products and all other commercialized animal products.
6.Grow your own food products or purchase them from local farmers, who do not use GM seeds and products in their farms.
7.Use a non-GMO shopping guide.

Household Cleaning Agents: Standard products are highly toxic and carcinogenic. Some ingredients to look out for include sodium hypochlorite, formaldehyde, perchloroethylene, phenol & cresol. Much better alternatives include citrus-based cleaners that are both effective and green-friendly. Typically made with orange or lemon peels, these products are non-toxic, petroleum-free and biodegradable. Natural acids such as lemon/lime and vinegar are great for cutting grease and are natural antiseptics. Another great solution is using 3% hydrogen peroxide and vinegar in separate bottles sprayed together on dirty surfaces.
Air Fresheners: These products simply mask one smell with another. They smell good, but they contain very hazardous nerve deadening chemicals and often coat the nasal passages with an undetectable oil film. Aerosol fresheners can be especially harmful to the lungs if inhaled in heavy quantities or for prolonged periods of time.
Natural solutions to bad odors include fresh flowers, essential oil mists, and simmering on stove-top herbs/spices such as cinnamon and cloves. Monsanto appears to be introducing the omega-3 enhanced GM soybean oil, called Soymega or "stearidonic acid soybean oil" (SDA oil), at a craftily strategic time when much of the world is still reeling from the Fukushima Daiichi mega-disaster, which left ocean waters ridden with radioactive isotopes. And since omega-3s just happen to be most readily found in fatty ocean fish, the perpetual fear over radioactive and other poisons that may be lurking in such fish could drive many to embrace Monsanto's fake fish oil instead.
According to an FDA letter responding to Monsanto's request to have SDA oil approved for use as a food additive and acknowledged as being "generally recognized as safe" (GRAS), the FDA noted that Monsanto intends to use its omega-3-enhanced oil in a variety of food applications. These include baked goods, breakfast cereals, fish products, frozen dairy desserts, cheeses, grains and pastas, gravies, nuts, poultry, fruit juices, processed vegetable products, and soups -- yes, basically every processed food product in existence.
Monsanto created its GM soybean oil by injecting two specific enzymes into soybean genes. One came from Primula juliae, a type of flower, and the other from Neurospora crass, a type of red mold that grows on bread. As a result, the beans produce SDA oil and gamma-linolenic acid, two compounds not normally found in soybeans.
In its original request letter, Monsanto claims that its company-funded trials prove that SDA oil is safe for animal and human consumption, and that "no toxicologically significant effects were observed." However, the data does not specifically highlight the long-term effects of the oil in animals or in humans -- it merely alleges that nothing bad was observed during the 16-week trial period, which is hardly enough reassurance that the product is undeniably safe for consumption.
Nevertheless, the FDA has already granted Soymega GRAS status, which means that the agency acknowledges Monsanto's safety claims, and essentially has no problems with or objections to them. And if the FDA grants full approval for Soymega, you can expect to see it turning up in all sorts of consumer food products.
Have all the ocean disasters in recent years been a catalyst for forcing people over to artificial, patented varieties of omega-3s?Between BP's "Deepwater Horizon" oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010, and the earthquake and tsunami that ravaged the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility in March 2011, many of the world's oceans, and corresponding fish stocks, have been severely tainted. Add in perpetual mercury poisoning and other pollution that has been afflicting ocean life for many decades, and seafood appears less and less enticing as a safe and healthy source of omega-3s.
Enter Monsanto. By positing its omega-3 GM soybean variety as a safer, healthier alternative to natural seafood and sea-based fish oils, the company stands to gain an incredible amount of profit while ultimately steering public preference away from natural sources of omega-3s, and towards its own patented varieties of omega-3s.
The same Forbes article that announced the advent of Monsanto's Soymega also mentions that sea-based fish oils can be contaminated with toxins, and also suggests that fish-derived omega-3s are responsible for depleting fish stocks and damaging the environment. Do you see where this is all going?
It is all too convenient that as omega-3s become more popular than ever, Monsanto, in conjunction with the FDA and the mainstream media, is coordinating a leveraged attack against natural sources of omega-3s in order to brainwash the public into accepting its "safer" variety. And by getting SDA oil laced throughout the food supply, the public will ultimately have little choice in avoiding it., and will probably just accept it as beneficial.
Monsanto is clearly dead set on capturing the omega-3 market through its new soybean oil. After all, soybean oil has become a staple in most American processed foods, and by "enriching" everything from breads and cereals to vegetable dishes and quick dinners with Soymega, the general public will be less prone to purchase fish for its health benefits. And the end result will be more control of the food supply handed over to Monsanto, and less availability of natural omega-3s on the market.

According to the USDA food consumption chart, the average American consumes only 12% of their calories from fruits and vegetables combined. The importance of fruits and vegetables in the diet is well known and yet ignored by the large majority of Americans. One critically important aspect of fruits and vegetables in the diet is the phytochemical's ability to protect against sun damage.
A recent study in the British Journal of Dermatology examined whether tomato paste, rich in lycopene, could protect against UV sun damage. The researchers of this study evaluated biopsies of skin tissue from unexposed and UV exposed skin samples. Upon review of the skin samples researchers concluded, 'Lycopene provides protection against acute and potentially longer-term aspects of photo-damage.' This recent study highlights the protective nature of fruit and vegetable phytochemicals not only in optimal health but also in protection against UV skin damage and potentially skin cancer.
A study published in Molecular Biotechnology concluded that carotenoids and flavonoids are also involved in the prevention of UV damage in humans. Researchers reported that as these antioxidants are ingested in the diet they are distributed into light-exposed tissues of the skin and eye where they provide phyto-protection. The researchers concluded, 'Dietary micronutrients may contribute to life-long protection against harmful UV radiation.' Several studies have now confirmed the significant protective nature of phyto-chemicals in the diet against UV skin damage.
Reports from the University of California Riverside state that nearly 50% of the world's population is at risk for vitamin D deficiency. According to the Vitamin D Council, sun exposure should be the number one method of choice for adequate vitamin D. Grant, PhD, of the Sunlight, Nutrition, and Health Research Center (SUNARC), is researching a link between a lack of vitamin D and Alzheimer's disease and other vascular dementias (http://www.naturalnews.com/026392_V...). And now comes word from two new studies that restful sleep and exercise may also play a huge role in preventing cognitive decline.
In a study just published in JAMA (the Journal of the American Medical Association), Kristine Yaffe, M.D., of the University of California, San Francisco, and her research team investigated the association between the very common problem of sleep-disordered breathing and the development of mild cognitive impairment as well as dementia. Their study included 298 elderly women without dementia at the beginning of the study who had overnight sleep studies between January 2002 and April 2004. Those who had sleep-disordered breathing know as apnea (abnormal pauses in breathing or instances of abnormally low breathing) of 15 or more events per hour of sleep were far more likely to develop memory problems and/or dementia than women without this disorder.
"Given the high prevalence and significant morbidity associated with both sleep-disordered breathing and cognitive impairment in older populations, establishing whether a prospective association exists between sleep-disordered breathing and cognition is important. This is especially important because effective treatments for sleep-disordered breathing exist," the researchers said in a media statement. Treatments for apnea include losing weight -- obesity greatly increases the odds a person will have sleep-related breathing pauses -- and the use of oxygen during sleep.
Another natural way to protect the brain could be as simple as regular exercise. According to a study recently published in The Journal of Neuroscience, moderate exercise may lead to a variety of changes in the brain that boost its ability to protect itself during aging -- including protection from memory loss.
For their new research, scientists led by Ruth Barrientos, PhD, of the University of Colorado at Boulder, found running on an exercise wheel protected older rats from memory loss following an Escherichia coli (E. coli) infection. The exercise especially protected the hippocampus, an area of the brain involved in learning and memory that typically is impacted by bacterial infection in aging animals.
"This is the first study to show that exercise reduces susceptibility to the cognitive impairments that follow infection in aging animals, and the changes taking place in the brain thought to underlie these impairments," Barrientos said in a press statement.
Although this was an animal study, there's certainly reason to think the results could apply to humans. In people, older adults are more likely than the young to suffer memory problems, including dementia, after severe bacterial infection or injury. Jonathan Godbout, PhD, an expert on aging at Ohio State University, who was unaffiliated with the study, said in the media statement: "This study provides exciting evidence that a little moderate exercise is protective against age-related problems with health and immunity."

Michael Hart has been a commercial farmer in Cornwall, England for thirty years. He is not an organic farmer, but he is a proponent of agricultural diversity from family farms. He wants the EU to avoid the GMO seed/herbicide trap.
His recently produced short documentary focuses on American farmers, who have bought into the biotech industry's propaganda of higher yields with less overhead. The farmers he interviewed underscore the same theme: Monsanto has trapped them into a financial system of patented seeds and herbicides that have resulted in faltering crop yields with higher operating expenses.
Major Points Discussed in the Video
Monsanto sells its Roundup herbicide specifically for its Roundup Ready GM seeds. It's part of a rigidly enforced deal. The deal is sold with the promise that one post emergence pass (spraying after plants emerge) of Roundup will be sufficient for high crop yields of Monsanto's patented Roundup Ready GMO seeds.
At first this appeared to be the case. But within a short time, Roundup resistant weeds began sprouting. Different combinations of tank mixed herbicides had to be contrived and purchased in addition to Monsanto's contractually required Roundup herbicide. Monsanto even sold tank mixed herbicides as well.
Not only did one pass not work, but farmers also attested to different combinations of herbicides with several passes, which included pre-emergence and post emergence spraying to manage their crops. The new weeds had become a plague. And GMO crop production wound up demanding even more pesticide applications than non-GMO commercial farming.
Because the biotech industry now funds most agricultural university research, the farmers are concerned about the lack of attention toward developing better pesticides that would minimize spraying. When the composite chemical tank pesticides don't do the job, Monsanto advises farmers to pull weeds by hand. Many crop fields are well over a thousand acres!
GMO farmers are contractually barred from saving seeds for future crop planting. This violates a centuries old custom. They have to buy new GMO seeds from Monsanto for every new crop planting. A non-GMO farmer can save seeds to raise new crops. Even if GMO seeds are cheaper, in the long run the non-GMO farmer saves money since he's able to use seeds saved from prior plantings many times over.
Even so, prices for non-GMO seeds have increased substantially as public (not patented) seeds are being crowded out of the market with Monsanto's government granted ability to patent seeds that are not genetically modified. Farmers hire professional seed cleaners to clean and sort their saved seeds. Monsanto harasses seed cleaners to ensure they are not mixing Monsanto's patented seeds with farmers' saved seeds.
American farmers realize the co-existence of non-GMO fields with GMO fields is impossible. They've had to learn the hard way that cross pollination and seeds carried by wind and migrating birds contaminate their non-GMO fields. And Monsanto uses patent law to prosecute farmers, who have been unwittingly contaminated by nearby GM fields belonging to other farmers. This type of intimidation forces non-GMO farmers out of business.
Michael Hart has vowed to promote GMO resistance to EU farmers. Beyond Hart's mission, health freedom activists, who are concerned about GMO threat to human health, should consider including disgruntled GMO and non-GMO commercial farmers in an international coalition of GMO resistance.

Ordinary strips of scrap wood can be nailed or lashed together to make a `tepee` design, which works well for runner plants such as beans, some cucumbers, peas and some tomatoes. Used pallet wood can be used to make raised garden beds or containers.
It is important to note that if you are starting a vegetable garden for the first time, it is better to rather master 2 or 3 different crops initially than plant 15 different crops and not be able to tend to all of them. As you master each crop, you will find that you will be able to successfully add a larger selection to your garden.
Calculate the amount of growing space you wish to use and plant seeds accordingly. The ideal patch of ground or growing area will be that which receives full sun almost all day. Ensure that you have the necessary tools such as spades, hoes, rakes and gloves before embarking on your project.
Always buy heirloom seeds from reputable sources. Heirloom seeds may be more costly to purchase, but they are definitely the better option, as seeds can be saved from each crop for the following year. Whereas with chemically treated seeds from some sources, the plants stand a good chance of being genetically modified.
Once you have your seeds or seedlings, you need to ensure that your soil is suitable for growing produce. A pH level of around 6.5 is ideal for optimal growing conditions. If you are unsure whether your soil is ph balanced or suitable for growing produce in, it is best to take a sample of it to your local nursery for them to test it and to determine whether you need to treat the soil before planting your crops.
Once planted, your crops will begin to grow. They will need a little attention from you in the form of watering, mulching (for certain plants) and weeding. It is important to keep weeds out of your vegetable patch, as they will steal valuable nutrients from the soil that could otherwise have gone to your produce.
Most importantly, if you find that you have a surplus of produce, a good idea is to share with friends, neighbours and family. This could encourage them to start their own vegetable patch, which could in turn lead to a barter system where each person grows different crops and exchanges his/her surplus.
